The information is invaluable and should be of interest to virtually everyone.\u00a0 Over the next few months, WAVS &amp; Senior\u2019s at Risk Committee will be publishing information regarding one type of scam each week with all of the information taken from The Little Book of Scams 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Edition (with permission).<\/p>\n<p>Scammers are sneaky and sly.\u00a0 They can target anyone from youngsters to retirees.\u00a0 They can also target businesses. No one is immune to fraud.\u00a0 The secret to protecting yourself from scammers is to have knowledge \u2013 know what a scam looks like and how to protect yourself from them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fraud Fighting 101<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Arm yourself with the information you need to fight fraud and keep yourself, your family and your money safe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You work hard for your money.<\/strong>\u00a0 You want to spend it on things that matter to you \u2013 whether it is your children\u2019s education, an exciting trip or a new smartphone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fraudsters are real.<\/strong>\u00a0 They are out there every day looking for victims.\u00a0 They will target you online, over the phone, by mail or in person.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019re a target<\/strong>.\u00a0 Thousands of Canadians lose millions of dollars to fraudsters every year.\u00a0 The impact of fraud on families and businesses can be devastating.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learn to fight fraud.<\/strong>\u00a0 This booklet includes 12 of the most common scams currently targeting Canadians.\u00a0 It is filled with tips and tricks on how to protect yourself and what to do if you get scammed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Report it.<\/strong>\u00a0 Anyone can be targeted, from teenagers, to grandparents, to senior corporate officers.\u00a0 The best thing you can do is to report the fraud, whatever the amount, to the appropriate authorities.
