{"id":40864,"date":"2021-01-06T08:13:56","date_gmt":"2021-01-06T13:13:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=40864"},"modified":"2021-01-06T08:13:56","modified_gmt":"2021-01-06T13:13:56","slug":"manitoulin-opp-charges-laid-after-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2021\/01\/06\/manitoulin-opp-charges-laid-after-collision\/","title":{"rendered":"Manitoulin OPP &#8211; Charges laid after Collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a>On January 2, 2021, at approximately 5:39 p.m. members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Sudbury-Manitoulin Emergency Services (EMS) and Whitefish Falls Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 6, south of Espanola.<\/p>\n<p>Police learned the vehicle was the subject of a previous driving complaint.\u00a0Upon speaking to the driver, police also determined driver to be under the influence of a drug.\u00a0The driver was arrested and brought for further investigation to Espanola detachment.<\/p>\n<p>A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) investigation was completed and as a result, the driver Larry FOWLER, 31-years-old, of Wikwemikong Unceded First Nation Reserve was charged with:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Operation While Impaired &#8211; Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Dangerous Operation, contrary to section 320.13(1) of the CC,<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance &#8211; Opioid (Other Than Heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.<\/p>\n<p>The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 1, 2021, in Espanola.<\/p>\n<p>The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver&#8217;s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On January 2, 2021, at approximately 5:39 p.m. members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Sudbury-Manitoulin Emergency Services (EMS) and Whitefish Falls Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 6, south of Espanola.
