Yesterday at 9:10 a.m. it was the June full moon. Here in Wawa, it was visible in the night sky about 9:45 p.m. just over William Teddy Park\/Surluga Hill. As full moon’s go it was a small one, or Apogee moon. The Farmer’s Almanac explains “This mini moon\u00a0occurs only once every\u00a0year, when the Moon\u2019s orbit takes it further away from Earth.\u00a0During that time, the Moon appears 14% smaller in the sky than it does when it is a Mega (or Perigee) Moon.”<\/p>\n

Here in Wawa, I waited until the moon was just peeking over the Surluga Hill, and then Marcus and I went down to Wawa Lake to capture the moon’s gleaming on the water. He concentrated on taking her portrait with a long lens, and I did landscapes. It didn’t take long for the moon to rise, and the blackflies to chase us away.<\/p>\n
