{"id":39896,"date":"2020-12-09T09:15:38","date_gmt":"2020-12-09T14:15:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=39896"},"modified":"2020-12-09T09:15:38","modified_gmt":"2020-12-09T14:15:38","slug":"ontario-protecting-workers-and-employers-during-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2020\/12\/09\/ontario-protecting-workers-and-employers-during-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario Protecting Workers and Employers during COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The Ontario government introduced the <em>Workplace Safety and Insurance Amendment Act, 2020<\/em> that would, if passed, protect employers from an unexpected increase in Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) premiums, while maintaining an increase to the maximum earnings cap for worker benefits.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The loss of jobs among lower wage workers, including those in the retail, hospitality and service sector, during the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an increase in the average industrial wage (AIG) of Ontario workers by 7.8 per cent, compared to an average increase of 2-3 per cent.
