{"id":35253,"date":"2020-08-05T16:53:14","date_gmt":"2020-08-05T20:53:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=35253"},"modified":"2020-08-05T16:53:14","modified_gmt":"2020-08-05T20:53:14","slug":"manitoulin-opp-atv-driver-charged-with-operation-while-impaired-after-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2020\/08\/05\/manitoulin-opp-atv-driver-charged-with-operation-while-impaired-after-collision\/","title":{"rendered":"Manitoulin OPP &#8211; ATV Driver Charged with Operation while Impaired after collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-101\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/OPPCrest-e1501592123859-300x236.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/>On August 2, 2020, at approximately 8:32 p.m. members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision (MVC) on Highway 540, Gordon Township.<\/p>\n<p>It was reported that MVC involved a driver that was ejected from an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and had non-life threatening injuries.\u00a0With the assistance of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) the driver was transported to hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Police continued their investigation at the hospital where officers conducted a mandatory alcohol screening (MAS) on the driver which registered a &#8220;Fail&#8221; resulting in further tests.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the investigation, William BORTON, 31-years-old, of Gordon Township was charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Operation while Impaired &#8211; alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), and<\/li>\n<li>Operation while impaired &#8211; blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on October 7, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The driver was served with a 90 day Administrative Driver&#8217;s Licence Suspension (ADLS).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On August 2, 2020, at approximately 8:32 p.m. members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision (MVC) on Highway 540, Gordon Township.
