{"id":33584,"date":"2020-06-30T08:42:48","date_gmt":"2020-06-30T12:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=33584"},"modified":"2020-06-30T08:42:48","modified_gmt":"2020-06-30T12:42:48","slug":"mhs-graduation-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2020\/06\/30\/mhs-graduation-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"MHS Graduation 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, June 25th and Friday, June 26th, <sup>\u00a0<\/sup>Michipicoten\u00a0High School graduates celebrated their accomplishments.\u00a0 While the year did not end with a formal graduation ceremony, each Graduate was celebrated individually by a group of staff members.\u00a0Once again, the community support for our graduates was incredible.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-33585\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Screen-Shot-2020-06-30-at-8.37.49-AM-300x247.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Screen-Shot-2020-06-30-at-8.37.49-AM-300x247.png 300w, https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Screen-Shot-2020-06-30-at-8.37.49-AM-150x123.png 150w, https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Screen-Shot-2020-06-30-at-8.37.49-AM-500x411.png 500w, https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Screen-Shot-2020-06-30-at-8.37.49-AM.png 574w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Included in the hand-delivered grad package was a very special surprise for each graduate; a beautiful, hand crafted MHS 2020 pottery mug donated by our very own Cindy\u00a0Jozin\u00a0of Green Cabin Pottery.\u00a0Although grads had been told they were getting a lawn sign, the mug was a\u00a0well kept\u00a0secret! Judging by the smiles and comments received when the packages were dropped off, these mugs were the highlight of the package. On behalf of the graduates, the staff would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cindy\u00a0for this incredible donation \u2013 these mugs will certainly be treasured by these graduates for years to come. We would also like to thank Algoma Highlands for donating jam that was included in each grad\u2019s package.<\/p>\n<p>Even in the midst of a global\u00a0pandemic,\u00a0our\u00a0community also pulled together to offer our graduates an incredible number of bursaries and awards. The staff and students of\u00a0Michipicoten\u00a0High School would like to publicly thank\u00a0the following\u00a0companies, organizations,\u00a0and individuals who generously sponsored graduation\u00a0bursaries\u00a0or awards\u00a0at our school this year:\u00a0\u00a0Algoma District School Board, Algoma District Services Administration Board CUPE Local 3631, Brian Schultz &amp; Doug Johnson (in honour of Lori Johnson), Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Donald L. The enormous amount of time and effort that goes into fundraising and organizing for these awards or bursaries certainly does not go unnoticed.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to honk and cheer as you drive by any lawn signs of graduates! Thank you, Wawa and area, for celebrating our graduates.
