Marie &amp; Area \u2013 Yes (18)<\/p>\n<p><strong>(June 18, 2020, 10:30 am)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Due to a transition in the way we are collecting and collating information with partners, the\u00a0<strong>pending\/negative\u00a0numbers<\/strong>\u00a0will be updated early next week.\u00a0 The numbers for\u00a0<strong>tested,\u00a0positives and resolved<\/strong>\u00a0continue to be posted daily and are\u00a0up-to-date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>News Tidbits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<aside>There were five new forest fires confirmed by late afternoon on June 22; four in the Sudbury area, and one near Cobalt. Six fires continue to burn in the northeast region, with the closest, Wawa 4 being held at 7.4 hectares. The fire hazard is mostly high to extreme in areas south of Timmins in the region, with the exception of the areas west of Elliot Lake which are showing a low to moderate hazard due recent to precipitation in the area. Most areas north of Timmins are also showing a low to moderate hazard this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>No new fires were discovered in the Northwest Region by mid-afternoon of June 22. There are four active fires in the region, all of which are described as being held or under control. One fire was declared out today. The fire hazard is primarily low across the Northwest Region with the exception of some moderate and high hazard conditions in the southern reaches of the Thunder Bay sector.<\/p>\n<p>The Thunder Bay Art Gallery has extended the Lakehead University Student Exhibitions. With the reopening of the Gallery on June 23 the public is invited to view the exhibitions until July 5. New protocols are in place to protect both visitors and staff, following government guidelines, including social distancing, reduced visitor capacity, and hand sanitizing stations.<\/aside>\n<aside><\/aside>\n<p>Yael Ginsler, Assistant Deputy Minister, Student Achievement Division, and Denys Giguere, Assistant Deputy Minister, French-Language Teaching, Learning and Achievement Division from the Ministry of Education will hold a technical briefing on changes to Ontario&#8217;s math curriculum at 11:30 this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Premier Doug Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, to make an announcement at 12:30.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Weather &#8211; Cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers this morning.
