On March 31, 2020 at approximately 9:15 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Northeast Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Superior East OPP Detachment executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Churchill Avenue in Wawa.<\/p>\n
During the search, officers located approximately $1,700 in cash, as well as quantities of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine and oxycodone.\u00a0The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $3,000.\u00a0In addition to drugs, officers also located the following prohibited weapons:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Handheld crossbow
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Expandable baton
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Conductive energy weapon (CEW)<\/p>\n
As a result of the investigation, three people were arrested and charged.<\/p>\n
Blake Komarniski, 36 years of age from Wawa, was charged with:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Possession of a Schedule I Substance – opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Unauthorized possession of weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code (CC) – (Three Counts),
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC,
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Failure to comply with release order, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC – (Seven Counts), and
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA).<\/p>\n
The accused was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.<\/p>\n
Krista Stone, 21 years of age from Wawa, was charged with:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Possession of a Schedule I Substance – opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Unauthorized possession of weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC – (Three Counts), and
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the CA.<\/p>\n
Colton Valliere, 26 years of age from Wawa, was charged with:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Possession of a Schedule I Substance – other drugs, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA, and
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Fail to comply with recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the CC – (Two Counts).<\/p>\n
