Local snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are possible by Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, very strong wind gusts to 90 km\/h will likely generate whiteouts in blowing snow. Travel on Highway 17 between Sault Ste. Marie and Wawa may be nearly impossible at times, especially along exposed portions of the highway.<\/p>\n<p>Conditions will improve Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Road closures are possible.<\/p>\n<div class=\"centrebar\"><\/div>\n<p><span id=\"162150567583705316202003120503ww1272cwto\">4:46 AM EDT Friday 13 March 2020<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>Wind warning in effect for:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Agawa &#8211; Lake Superior Park<\/li>\n<li>Sault Ste. Marie &#8211; St. Joseph Island<\/li>\n<li>Searchmont &#8211; Montreal River Harbour &#8211; Batchawana Bay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Westerly wind gusts of 90 km\/h today.<\/p>\n<p>Winds will begin to gradually diminish this evening.<\/p>\n<p>There will be potential for power outages.<\/p>\n<p>Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur.
