An reception was held at the opening on September 27th. The first exhibition is &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/theag.ca\/tc-events\/beads-theyre-sewn-so-tight\/\"><strong>Beads, they\u2019re sewn so tight<\/strong><\/a>&#8221; an exhibit that features the work of four contemporary artists who innovate in the field of beading and quillwork. Over 40 beaded works by\u00a0Bev Koski,\u00a0Katie Longboat,\u00a0Jean Marshall, and\u00a0Olivia Whetung\u00a0are included in the this exhibition guest curated by\u00a0Lisa Myers\u00a0and organized by the\u00a0Textile Museum of Canada\u00a0in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Their-Breath-in-Beads-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-24549\" src=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Their-Breath-in-Beads-02-300x127.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"127\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Their-Breath-in-Beads-02-300x127.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Their-Breath-in-Beads-02-768x325.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Their-Breath-in-Beads-02-600x254.jpg 600w, https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Their-Breath-in-Beads-02.jpg 851w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The second exhibition is &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/theag.ca\/tc-events\/their-breath-in-beads\/\"><strong>Their Breath in Beads<\/strong><\/a>&#8220;. Jean Marshall, the exhibition\u2019s guest curator explains &#8220;After years of quietly holding our breath, Indigenous people have exhaled an expansive creative force which has raged, whistled, and glided into the bodies of 10 regional artists. Their work represents a microcosm of the diversity of what is happening in the contemporary beading scene in this region,\u201d \u00a0The regional artists featured are:\u00a0Caitlyn Bird, Dawn Driver, Doug Turner, Helen Pelletier, Cher Chapman, Reena Larabee, Mary Magiskan, Sheila Demerah, Melissa Twance, and Justine Gustafson.<\/p>\n<p>This exhibition of beadwork is expanded into\u00a0Culture Days Programming. Today is Beads &amp; Bannock \u2013 Show &amp; Share\u00a0from 10 am to 1 pm. Attendees are asked to bring a beaded item \u2013 something you\u2019ve made or something you treasure \u2013 to share. Bring a beading project and sit together to learn and have conversations. For all ages and abilities.<\/p>\n<p>Bannock and tea will be served as refreshment at both events.
