{"id":2136,"date":"2017-04-05T12:03:19","date_gmt":"2017-04-05T16:03:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=2136"},"modified":"2017-04-09T23:17:13","modified_gmt":"2017-04-10T03:17:13","slug":"wynne-failing-northerners-facing-highest-risk-of-heart-attack-or-stroke-in-the-province-ndp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2017\/04\/05\/wynne-failing-northerners-facing-highest-risk-of-heart-attack-or-stroke-in-the-province-ndp\/","title":{"rendered":"Wynne failing northerners facing highest risk of heart attack or stroke in the province: NDP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Apr 5, 2017 @ 12:03<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During question period Tuesday, NDP MPP Michael Mantha demanded that Premier Kathleen Wynne take the health care of northerners much more seriously, after a shocking new study showed people in northern Ontario have nearly double the level of cardiovascular risk than people in the Greater Toronto Area.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy isn&#8217;t the province delivering the same level of health care to people living in northern Ontario?\u201d asked Mantha, the MPP for Algoma-Manitoulin.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new study,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmaj.ca\/site\/press\/cmaj.160823.pdf\">published Monday<\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0<em>Canadian Medical Association Journal,\u00a0<\/em>showed a sharp divide in health outcomes between northerners and the rest of the province.
