Marie Civic Centretoday to announce that the City of Sault Ste. Marie will receive support through the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mto.gov.on.ca\/english\/highway-bridges\/connecting-links.shtml\">Connecting Links<\/a>\u00a0program to resurface two sections of Second Line along Highway 550\/17.<\/p>\n<p>Connecting links are municipal roads or bridges that connect two ends of a provincial highway through a community, or to a border crossing.<\/p>\n<p>Ontario is making the largest infrastructure investment in hospitals, schools, public transit, roads and bridges in the province&#8217;s history. Marie will receive approximately $2.3 million for the Highway 550\/17 project.<\/li>\n<li>The province provided $20 million in 2016-17 to support 23 Connecting Links\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.ontario.ca\/mto\/en\/2016\/04\/connecting-links-funding-by-municipality.html?_ga=1.79354900.1433770183.1457015869\">projects<\/a>\u00a0across Ontario. Funding for the Connecting Links program is $25 million for 2017-18 and will increase to $30 million in 2018\u201319 and beyond.<\/li>\n<li>Ontario will be updating the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.forms.ssb.gov.on.ca\/mbs\/ssb\/forms\/ssbforms.nsf\/GetFileAttach\/023-5083E~2\/$File\/5083E_guide.pdf\">Connecting Links program guide<\/a>\u00a0to allow more projects to be eligible, such as road widening projects. The new guide will be ready for the next Connecting Links intake in the summer of 2017.<\/li>\n<li>There are about 350\u00a0kilometres\u00a0of roads and 70 bridges along connecting links in 77 municipalities across Ontario.<\/li>\n<li>Connecting Links funding covers up to 90\u00a0per cent\u00a0of eligible project costs, to a maximum of $3 million.
