All Schools are closed for students\u00a0and staff.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Central Algoma Area \u2013 including Echo Bay, Bruce Mines, Desbarats, St. Joe Island, Thessalon &amp; areas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">Due to the adverse weather and poor road conditions and in the interest of safety all schools are closed today to staff and students for ALL boards and all school-related transportation is cancelled. \u00a0All Schools are closed for students and staff.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>North Shore Area \u2013 including Iron Bridge, Blind River, Elliot Lake and Spanish &amp; areas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">No Alerts in this area. \u00a0Transportation is running as scheduled.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Wawa<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ancestry class at the Wawa Goose Senior&#8217;s Centre has been cancelled tonight<\/li>\n<li>The North Algoma Literacy Coalition (Adult Learning Centre) closed today, will reopen Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.<\/li>\n<li>Community Volleyball at Sir James Dunn PS is cancelled tonight due to school closed.<\/li>\n<li>The Indoor Walking Program has been cancelled for tonight.<\/li>\n<li>Due to current weather conditions, Algoma Public Health\u2019s Sault Ste. Marie and Wawa offices will be closed for the day. Our offices in Blind River and Elliot Lake will remain open. If you had an appointment for today, you will contacted tomorrow with a new appointment date and time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In<strong> Sault Ste. Marie:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All City facilities are closed today and City services will be cancelled.<\/li>\n<li>With the significant winter event, the City is advising residents to stay off of the roads as conditions are not safe for travel.<\/li>\n<li>All City facilities will not be in operation today. This includes the Civic Centre, City Libraries, City arenas and all recreational facilities including Seniors Centre, Ermatinger\u00b7Clergue National Historic Site and City pools. All programming at City arenas and the Northe<span class=\"text_exposed_show\">rn Community Centre will be cancelled. <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"text_exposed_show\">City transit is cancelled and will not be running<\/li>\n<li class=\"text_exposed_show\">Garbage collection and recycling scheduled for Monday will be cancelled. Next Monday\u2019s collection shall allow for a four a (4) bag limit for those routes affected.<\/li>\n<li class=\"text_exposed_show\">The parking by-law remains in effect with motorists not permitted to park on city streets during the winter months between midnight and 6 a.m. however, during a winter event, motorists are urged to not park on city streets during the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The City of Sault Ste. All classes are cancelled. All academic buildings including labs, and offices will be closed.\u00a0Only essential personnel shall report to work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sault College<\/strong> has announced that campus is\u00a0closed today due to weather.\u00a0All classes are cancelled and no one is to report to work.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>In Sault Ste. Marie Michigan,<\/strong> from the Chippewa County Road Commission\u00a0&#8220;Morning update: please do not travel unless absolutely necessary! We are still experiencing widespread whiteout conditions. M-129 remains closed between 3 Mile<span class=\"text_exposed_show\"> and 12 Mile; I-75 is open but accidents are delaying traffic out there and many of our county roads are drifted completely shut. Again, do not venture out unless absolutely necessary. This weather and the conditions are no joke. We will be working to get everything open as soon as possible but at this point many of our own employees may not be able to make it in to start their shift.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Sugar Island Ferry has suspended operations &#8211; &#8220;NOTICE: as of 4:40 am this morning we are still shut down due to high winds. Last report of the causeway was that it was highly drifted over around 10 last night.
