Through the sale of promotional light-up wands, over $5,500 was raised for charities throughout the north.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen charities and community organizations including One Kids Place, Northeastern Ontario Child and Family Services Christmas Angel campaign and several food banks were selected by event organizers to receive the funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe response was overwhelming,\u201d says Rebecca McGlynn, Director of Marketing and Communications. \u201cBy adding this new element to our event, Ontario Northland has been able to give back to the communities we serve. With the help of all those who attended the events this year, we have raised over $5,500. It was a huge community and volunteer effort that we were proud to be a part of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An estimated 5,000 people attended the Brighten the Night Christmas Train events in December.
