{"id":18517,"date":"2005-03-30T12:32:42","date_gmt":"2005-03-30T17:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=18517"},"modified":"2021-02-04T08:51:45","modified_gmt":"2021-02-04T13:51:45","slug":"brown-announces-new-infection-control-funding-for-ldhc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2005\/03\/30\/brown-announces-new-infection-control-funding-for-ldhc\/","title":{"rendered":"Brown Announces New Infection Control Funding for LDHC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Published on: <b>Mar 30, 2005<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Government of Ontario is improving the health and safety of patients and staff by providing $98,600 to Lady Dunn Health Centre to enhance its infection control capacity, Mike Brown, M.P.P. for Algoma-Manitoulin announced today on behalf of Health and Long-Term Care Minister George Smitherman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInfection control in hospitals should be a top priority in any health care system, and it certainly is a top priority for the government,\u201d said Brown. \u201cThis investment will help Lady Dunn Health centre to further strengthen its infection control capacity and better protect patients and staff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The funding announced today will enable Lady Dunn Health Centre to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li type=\"disc\">Provide more staff education on patient safety and infection control.<\/li>\n<li type=\"disc\">Ensure that all medical equipment is properly disinfected and sterilized, including reusable and disposable medical devices, sterilizers, single use devices and instrument trays.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Province-wide, the government is providing $13.6 million to hospitals to enhance infection control capacity.\u00a0 Part of that funding comes from Operation Health Protection, the government\u2019s action plan to re-build public health in Ontario released in June of 2004.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOntarians must have every confidence in their hospitals\u2019 infection control practices,\u201d Brown said. \u201cOur government is working with hospitals to make sure all procedures and treatments are done in the safest and most diligent way possible for the health and safety of patients and staff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s announcement is part of the Ontario government\u2019s comprehensive plan to improve health care in Ontario.
