{"id":17994,"date":"2019-01-04T13:11:48","date_gmt":"2019-01-04T18:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=17994"},"modified":"2019-01-09T13:13:45","modified_gmt":"2019-01-09T18:13:45","slug":"se-opp-white-river-seize-cannabis-during-traffic-stops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/04\/se-opp-white-river-seize-cannabis-during-traffic-stops\/","title":{"rendered":"SE OPP White River &#8211; Seize Cannabis during traffic stops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, December 29, 2018, at approximately 12:40 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Detachment performed a traffic stop on Highway 17 in White River Township.\u00a0While speaking to the driver, an odour of cannabis was detected emanating from the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the investigation, a small amount of dried cannabis was seized and Jacoby RUMANCIK (21 years of age) of Quesnel, British Columbia was charged with the following;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to section 12(1) of the Cannabis Control Act (CCA).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at approximately 6:10 p.m., a member of the OPP in White River performed a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to move over.\u00a0While speaking with the driver, the officer detected an odour of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the investigation, a small amount of cannabis was located and seized.\u00a0Colin RAMSAY (27 years of age) of Etobicoke, Ontario was charged with the following;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to section 12(1) of the CCA,<\/li>\n<li>Class G1 licence holder &#8211; unaccompanied by qualified driver, contrary to section 5(1) of O.Reg 340\/94 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The OPP would like to remind the public that although cannabis is now legal to possess and consume, it is not legal to have cannabis in a vehicle or boat unless one or both of the following conditions are met:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cannabis is in its original packaging and has not been opened; OR<\/li>\n<li>Cannabis is packed in baggage that is fastened closed or is not otherwise readily available to any person in the vehicle or boat.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For more information, please visit:\u00a0Ontario Provincial Police: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.opp.ca\/cannabis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.opp.ca\/cannabis<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;STAY SHARP &#8211; KNOW THE FACTS&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, December 29, 2018, at approximately 12:40 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Detachment performed a traffic stop on Highway 17 in White River Township.\u00a0While speaking to the driver, an odour of cannabis was detected emanating from the vehicle.
