Word has it that this year\u2019s late spring warmth and wonderful summer weather helped produce bumper yields for gardeners in the Wawa area. The sprouting evidence seen at our community garden on the CAS property just off Algoma Street would seem to show this to be fact.\u00a0 Good results makes the growing of fruit and vegetables so very rewarding!<\/p>\n

Our garden plots were completely taken this summer, most adequately cared for by our \u2018serious\u2019 gardeners and proved abundantly productive.\u00a0 Others didn\u2019t fare as well when regular watering and weed-pulling were not done.\u00a0 Goes to prove that hard work usually produces good results!<\/p>\n

The Community Garden will again host a BEST VEGGIE BRAGGING RIGHTS display at the Annual Blueberry Fall Festival.\u00a0 All area gardeners are invited to enter the potentially prize-winning \u2018fruits of your labours\u2019 under the following categories:<\/p>\n

  1. LARGEST Potato<\/li>\n
  2. LARGEST Cabbage<\/li>\n
  3. LARGEST SQUASH<\/li>\n
  4. BEST BUNCH of Root Vegetables<\/li>\n
  5. BEST Harvest Basket of Plenty<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Hope to see all the proud gardeners there!<\/p>\n

    We hope to be able to upgrade some existing plots and possibly expand the number available.\u00a0 If you\u2019re interested in helping out or becoming a community garden member, please contact us.<\/p>\n
