Official Opposition leader Andrea Horwath has tabled a motion in the legislature that will be debated Thursday to stop Doug Ford\u2019s attempts to meddle in municipal elections in Toronto, Muskoka, Peel, York and Niagara.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoug Ford didn\u2019t consult anyone before announcing that he plans to pass a law that amounts to rigging municipal elections,\u201d said Horwath at a rally on the front lawn of Queen\u2019s Park. \u201cDecisions about Toronto City Council belong to Torontonians, not Doug Ford.<\/p>\n

Horwath and the NDP have delayed Ford\u2019s bill through a reasoned amendment, forcing the legislature to debate consultation for two days before it can proceed. But now the bill \u2013 which wipes out Toronto\u2019s election boundaries and cancels the democratic regional chair elections in Peel, York, Muskoka and Niagara \u2013 will face another challenge from the NDP. The text of Horwath\u2019s motion to be debated Thursday afternoon reads:<\/p>\n
