{"id":11937,"date":"2018-04-17T14:42:31","date_gmt":"2018-04-17T18:42:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/?p=11937"},"modified":"2018-04-17T14:45:01","modified_gmt":"2018-04-17T18:45:01","slug":"healthcare-underfunding-puts-sudbury-hospital-jobs-on-chopping-block","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wawa-news.com\/index.php\/2018\/04\/17\/healthcare-underfunding-puts-sudbury-hospital-jobs-on-chopping-block\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthcare underfunding puts Sudbury hospital jobs on chopping block"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Apr 17, 2018 @ 14:42<\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div><div class=\"divider\"><\/div>\n<p>Following news that Sudbury\u2019s Health Sciences North intends to cut 76 more full-time jobs in order to balance the books, Ontario NDP health critic, France G\u00e9linas blamed the Liberal government\u2019s 15 years of healthcare cuts and budget freezes for the job losses being planned at the Sudbury hospital.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis premier\u2019s inadequate hospital funding has forced Health Sciences North to plan to cut another 113 jobs,\u201d said G\u00e9linas. \u201cThat\u2019s on top of the net 352 jobs that have already been cut at northeastern hospitals because of this Premier\u2019s cuts and freezes to hospital budgets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Board Chairs of Health Sciences North, the Timmins and District Hospital, the Sault Area Hospital, and North Bay Regional Health Centre rang alarm bells by taking the unprecedented step of writing to the LHIN to warn that lack of hospital funding threatens basic financial survival. It\u2019s something G\u00e9linas said she hadn\u2019t seen in her ten years as Ontario NDP health critic.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir resources are shrinking and they face huge shortfalls once again this year,\u201d said G\u00e9linas. \u201cWe all know what that means for people.
