Michipicoten Wado Kai @ Legion Hall - Upstairs
Dec 7 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Karate in Wawa is back! We are running Monday and Wednesday upstairs at the Legion. Children grade 1 to 8 at 6 till 6.45. Teens grade 9 to 12 and adults start at 7 till 8.30. The covid thing being what it is this may change. There can be no contact or shared equipment so classes will focus on fitness, stretching, and kata.

Children’s class is capped at 14 and teen/adult at 16.

Head Sensei Matt Larrett uses modern pedagogy to focus on interpreting and understanding kata as it applies to sport, self-protection and personal fitness.
We are a modern karate organization based on the teachings of Sensei Masaru Shintani, 9th Dan. Like our parent organization, Shintani Wado-Kai Karate Federation, we respect karate’s long history and traditions while looking forward to the evolving future of the martial sports. We focus our teachings on the ancient katas that are the backbone of karate technique and the bases for a practical system of self protection, as well as a viable vehicle for modern competitive sport karate. We encourage our students to learn together in a safe, cooperative, and respectful environment. Our primary goal is to promote Sensei Shintani’s respect, humility, and kindness in our teaching, and teach as he did, improving the body instead of harming the mind.
