Wawa ticket holders scoop registration prizes

Mar 4, 2017 @ 20:09 Residents of Wawa were big winners in the registration draw prizes tonight in the Wawa Ice Fishing Derby. Five tickets were drawn to win $1000 each. Mark Toffner, Jana Strouhlova, Denis Valiere, Derek  Bradley, Gilbert Legace all of Wawa. The winner of this year’s top registration prize of $30,000 is Pauline Neyland.

WFD Called to Possible Fire on Hwy 17N this morning

Early this morning the Wawa Fire Department was called to a transport trailer about 15 kilometres north of Wawa on Highway 17. The transport driver had removed the tractor from the trailer as a precaution, and the smell of burnt brakes was heavy in the air. There was no fire though.  OPP remained at the scene, providing traffic control.
