News Tidbits – Looking for a day trip or a weekend away? More than 35 high-performance speed boats will be in SSM from Friday, August 4 to Sunday, August 6, for the 2017 CAN/AM President’s Cup VIP Poker Run. Today you get to see the boats, vote for best boat in many different categories. Saturday is the Poker Run! Beginning at 10 a.m. boats head out and they return about 3:30 p.m. If you are a spectator, the best vantage points along the route are: St Joseph Island Bridge, Richards Landing Municipal Marina.

  • From 12pm to 1:30pm – The boats will be docked at Hilton Beach Marina
  • 2pm Thessalon, 2:30pm Fly By Hilton Beach and St Joseph Island Bridge
  • If observing from the U.S. side, Rotary Park in Sault, Michigan

On Sunday, register early to get your seat (Register online: https://goo.gl/2yzJZh) as part of the Charity Ride of a Lifetime event in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie at the Roberta Bondar Pavillion. The ride takes place from 11 – 2 p.m. Other events are photo booths, face painting, fire trucks, police cruisers, kids inflatables and bubble station.
