Tuesday Morning News – June 6

Jun 6, 2017 @ 07:48

Weather – Sunny. High 24.

News Tidbits – Highway 129 remains closed at this time due to a culvert failure.

Earth is passing through a stream of debris creating a meteor shower during the daytime. Tomorrow it peaks, and you might be able to see some of these meteors during a narrow window of darkness before sunrise.

From Spaceweather.com – “In fact, there is way to see a few of these meteors. Try looking just before sunrise. The shower’s radiant (labeled ARI in the radar map above) rises in the east about 45 minutes before the sun. At that time of day, Arietids tend to be “Earthgrazers,” i.e., meteors that skim horizontally through the upper atmosphere from radiants near the horizon. Spectacular Earthgrazers are usually slow and bright, streaking far across the sky–a real eye-opener. Sky maps: northern hemisphere, southern hemisphere.”

The countdown is on for our new goose. On Thursday, June 8th at 6:30 p.m. the Municipality is asking for everyone to come and be in the farewell picture with the Wawa goose. This will be our Goose’s last sunset. The new Goose will be revealed on July 1st.
