Happy April Fools Day!

Weather – Mainly cloudy. 30 percent chance of flurries this morning with risk of freezing drizzle. Clearing this afternoon. High 6.

Roads – All roads are bare and dry.

Local – The Wawa Ladies Curling Bonspiel and the Oldtimers Hockey Tournament make the Michipicoten Memorial Community a good place to go visit. There is also a bake sale!

Michipicoten First Nation is also having their swearing in of their new Chief and Council today at 4 p.m.

National – Mike Ranta has begun another trip across Canada via canoe (), starting from Government dock in Bella Bella, BC. He is a “modern day voyageur”, holding the record for “The worlds longest solo canoe expedition in a single season!” He will be on Lake Superior this July and August.

The Canadian flight crews who flew two Twin Otters from Calgary to Chile to Rothera and then the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Amundsen-Scott Research station, Antarctica to rescue two sick workers in blizzards and -60C were honoured with a Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Trophy for outstanding achievement.
